Jefferson County Schools continues to support student health and safety during the COVID-19 Pandemic through food distribution to children under safe conditions.   

Thank you for helping us help kids:

Jefferson County Schools is continuing to follow the normal yearly meal schedule. There will be no food distribution during Spring Break, April 6 - April 13.
After the break the regular Child Nutrition Plan will resume, with multi-day food packs being distributed weekly.

Directions for Participating JCS Families:

  • For students of Jefferson County only
  • Drive-thru Meal Pickup occurs once a week and will include 5 breakfast and lunches per child
  • Food Packs are available while supplies last
  • Food delivery for the upcoming week will be announced every Friday at jcswv.org
  • Food delivery will be once a week at our 7 sites and will occur from 11 a.m. -12:00 p.m. only
  • Please have your trunk or hatch open so volunteers may load food. Close it when directed to do so by the volunteer.
  • Practice social distancing at all times while in and around the school zone. This means that you need to remain 6 feet away from all but those in your vehicle at all times.
  • Families with COVID-19 symptoms or who have tested positive for COVID-19 should find a healthy or non-symptomatic person to pick up their food.

Food Handling Instructions:

  • Cold foods should be kept cold. Refrigerate cold foods as soon as possible, or within 2 HOURS.
  • Please discard any leftovers within 2 DAYS.
  • Check packages for expiration dates and throw away expired food if it is not consumed prior to the expiration date.



Directions for Families while at Food Distribution Sites


Walk-Up Traffic

Anyone who walks up to a food distribution site should remain 6 feet apart from anyone outside of their family group.


Directions for Vehicles:

When entering a food distribution site remain in your vehicle in a single line. Keep pulling your vehicle up as the line moves forward. Remain in your vehicle at all times. Roll down your window if you need to communicate with a volunteer. Open your trunk or hatch of your car when it is time to load your food. Volunteers will load your vehicle and let you know when it is safe to close your trunk or hatch.
