JCS Technology Department
The Jefferson County Schools’ Technology Department
consists of two groups that work together to support the technological needs of
students and staff: the Instructional Technology group consists of Technology
Resource Coaches (TRCs) and the Information Technology Support Specialists
group.
The goal of the Informational Technology Support
Specialists group is to ensure that our technology infrastructure supports the
ongoing technology needs of our school community. Group members are responsible for maintaining and improving our network infrastructure, managing databases that
are used for both administrative and educational purposes, and for providing
computer support and repair to our school community. This group consists of a Cisco Certified
Network Administrator, three certified IT Support Technicians and one certified
Systems Support Administrator.
The Technology Resource Coach (TRC) program was created
to provide services for Jefferson County students, teachers, administrators,
and staff by supporting technology integration at all levels of education. The
role as TRC is to become part of each school's culture in order to assist in
higher level teaching and learning that better prepares students for their
future. Moreover, this program is
designed to maximize 21st Century teaching and learning by providing targeted,
sustained, and relevant professional development, helping faculty and staff
integrate technology into the curriculum.
