West Virginia General Summative Assessment (WVGSA)

All students in grades 3-8 in Jefferson County Schools will be assessed between March 29 and May 28 this year.

Each school will provide parents with the testing schedule.

The Assessment for students grades 3-8 is completed entirely online.

Students will test over multiple days, typically one test per day.

*The assessment is computer-adaptive, such that how a student answers one question may determine the follow-up question, and features a set of questions from a testing vendor. This question bank will be supplemented by items designed by West Virginia Educators.

*each tested segment is estimated to take the students approximately 2 hours to complete.

HOME SCHOOL STUDENTS IN GRADES 3-8

*Any Home School student in grades 3-8 may participate in the WVGSA if properly registered in advance with the County Test Coordinator.

The Home School student will take the WVGSA at the school within their address area.
Each school will contact the parent with the testing schedule once the District Test Coordinator has registered the student with the West Virginia Department of Education.

**ALL GRADES 3-8 HOME SCHOOL STUDENTS WISHING TO TAKE THE WVGSA MUST BE REGISTERED BY FRIDAY, MARCH 26, 2021. THIS IS THE LAST DAY FOR REGISTERING AND THERE WILL BE NO ADDITIONAL ENROLLMENT AFTER THIS DATE.
